Explore The Possibilities

My mission is to help struggling individuals and families build a solid financial foundation and gain peace of mind. I also partner with non-profits,  credit unions and companies to implement financial education programs with the community and employees.

Ana Gonzalez Ribeiro, MBA, AFC®

I thoroughly enjoy helping people, educating and guiding them about money related topics. I’ve been doing this since 2008 in the form of writing about financial topics and now by teaching personal finance classes, coaching and translating/editing books and educational personal finance material from English to Spanish.

Here’s a bit of my background and the reason I believe I came to study personal finances. I don’t like to rehash the past but I think this is key to why I am the way I am today and why I sorted out this profession. I didn’t realize it until a few years ago.

When I was young, maybe 11 or 12 my parents lost all the properties and businesses they had in a bankruptcy and we ended up getting help from the government. The most hurtful time for me was seeing both my mom and dad do any odd job they could come across in order to provide, no matter how menial it was. They had a difficult time making ends meet and it really hurt that we were so poor after having so much. I didn’t realize till later in my life how bad it really was because my parents always made sure I was happy and well taken care of. I love them so much. I’m sure that is why I’m so careful with my money today.

So I set out to learn as much as I could about managing my money and in turn help others do the same.

I’ve published articles in The Hispanic Outlook on Higher Education, New Mexico Woman, Geico Direct Magazine, Whakate.com and Girlfriendz Magazine. I’ve been a regular contributing finance writer specializing in business related issues for Alaska Business Monthly, Spotlight on Recovery Magazine and I’ve worked for The Volunteer Center of United Way Westchester as a writer for the Youth Volunteer Guidebook 2008-2009. I’ve also been a volunteer translator and writer for the College Forward “The Loop” Newsletter.

I’ve worked as a finance staff writer for Mint.com and wrote for Investopedia.com, Bankrate.com, Contently.com and Skyword.com. I also worked as a bank news reporter for Savingsaccount.com and wrote for Journelism.org where I did a series about Hispanic Entrepreneurs and a blog about the educational tools and resources Latino students and emerging entrepreneurs need to achieve their dreams. My informative articles have been published in various news outlets and websites including Huffington Post, Fidelity, Fox Business News, MSN and Yahoo Finance. I am a member of and volunteer for the American Society of Journalists and Authors and the Financial Planners Association. I’ve also taken all the CFP courses required by the CFP board and worked as a paraplanner in a financial planning firm.  I am an Accredited Financial Counselor® , member of the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education® and a bilingual financial literacy teacher doing workshops throughout New York City and Westchester County and teaching classes in Spanish and English in addition to doing one-on-one financial counseling.

I've been featured on WIBC Indy’s News 93.1 FM radio, Blog Talk Radio and interviewed on Channel 41’s Univision morning news program, “Al Despertar”.  I founded the personal financial and motivational site www.Ace the Journey.com, translated the book: Financial Advice for Blue Collar America into Spanish: Asesoramiento Financiero para la Clase Trabajadora de los Estados Unidos. and have an M.B.A. from Long Island University.

During my downtime, I love watching Disney movies with my 7 year old son and my husband, creating jewelry, coloring mandalas reading uplifting and inspiring stories, exercising, meditating and doing yoga.

I have had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Gonzalez Ribeiro this past year as a client. During that time, we worked together closely, so I fully understand her capabilities.

Ana’s incredible adaptability and her uncanny way of knowing what her clients needs are is what made me feel comfortable. Her flexibility also allowed her to quickly switch tactics when she sensed I was about to change my mind. I am happy I stayed as a client.

The Kingsbridge, Riverdale, Van Cortlandt Development Corporation (KRVC) was very pleased to hire Ana Gonzalez Ribeiro, MBA and Personal Finance Coach, to present a valuable, lively and interesting series of workshops in September 2018 on ‘Understanding Your Credit’.

The focus of the workshops was understanding credit, how to improve credit, get out of debt, deal with collection agencies, learn about debt consolidation and debt management plans. The workshops were very informative, thorough and underscored the vital importance of establishing credit, having good credit, understanding the meaning and impact of credit history and highlighted available resources to address credit concerns and needs.  Workshop attendees were engaged, asked many questions and were clearly grateful for the knowledgeable and in-depth responses from Ms. Ribeiro.  Additionally, workshop attendees were thankful for the books and written materials that were distributed for their future reference.  Ms. Ribeiro's ability to present the workshops in both English and Spanish was of great benefit to the multi-cultural population of the Bronx.

KRVC looks forward to working with Ms. Ribeiro in the future to host more workshops on a variety of important and key topics.  The next workshop Ms. Ribeiro will be hosting at KRVC will focus on 'The Basics of Investing: Making Your Money Work for You!  This will be held at KRVC on February 26, 2018 from 7-8.30pm at 505 West 236th Street, Bronx, NY 10463 - www.krvcdc.org

I had the pleasure of partnering with Ana in 2018. She worked with my team to proofread Spanish translations of financial education materials aimed at educating older consumers on ways to identify and prevent elder financial abuse.  Her work was incredibly detail oriented, she was easy to work with, and provided immensely useful feedback. I highly recommend Ana and would love to work with her again.
